This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of solar liquid collector systems for heating domestic hot water. Illustrations and discussion presented on how space or pool heating can be incorporated into these systems. Topics covered will include the following:

  • Types of systems
  • Sizing and determining the amount of storage and collectors
  • Installation techniques for mounting collectors
  • Options and types of pre-heat storage tanks
  • Miscellaneous system components
  • Sizing pumps and piping
  • Procedure for soldering and supporting copper
  • Pipe insulation
  • Controls
  • System fill and start-up
  • Options for space and/or pool heating
