The Iowa Renewable Energy Association is seeking an independent contractor for 10 hours/week to coordinate our Renewable Energy Road Show. The contractor's primary work will consist of bringing the Association's mobile solar power station to an average of two Iowa K-12 schools per week, presenting information about renewable energy. The power station, known as the Solar Traveler, carries 1000 W of solar panels aboard a trailer pulled by a biodiesel truck. A battery bank and inverter, also aboard the trailer, allow the Traveler to deliver up to 4000 W of power.
Contract duties also include contacting schools to book the Traveler, working with radio and newspapers to publicize the presentations, performing routine bolt-tightening maintenance to the Traveler, and working with the Association's Board to further develop the Traveler presentation. The contract pays $10/hour, and includes approximately 4 hours/week of driving time. The successful applicant will have good public speaking skills and an enthusiasm for renewable energy. A valid Iowa drivers license is required. Although the duties require familiarity with scientific information, complete training with pay will be provided. To apply or receive more information, contact the Iowa Renewable Energy Association at 563-432-6551 or irenew@irenew.org by April 9, 2004.
