I-Renew Energy and Sustainability Expo 2009

September 12-13, 2009
Norway, Iowa

I-Renew's Energy and Sustainability Expo 2009 will be a celebration of the change that persistence can bring. We've got a lot to celebrate. We'll start by emphasizing the continued growth of green jobs in Iowa and finish by presenting a full spectrum of alternative energy and sustainability options.

Kate Gordon, Vice President of the Center for American Progress is one of two keynote speakers. Ms. Gordon was, until June of this year, Co-Director of the National Apollo Alliance. The Apollo Alliance is a coalition of labor, business, environmental and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution that will put millions of Americans to work in a new generation of high-quality, green-collar jobs. Kate is nationally recognized for her work on the intersection of clean energy and economic development policy, and especially for helping to shape the modern definition of "green-collar jobs" as "well-paid, career track jobs that contribute directly to reserving or enhancing the environment." She has a long history of working for economic justice and labor issues. She serves on several boards including the Midwest Agriculture Energy Network and the National Green Industries Policy Retreat.

Expo 2009 workshops and speakers will cover a wide variety of topics related to renewable energy- wind, solar, sustainable living, green building, energy efficient technology, renewable fuels, alternative transportation, and advocacy.

In addition, the I-Renew Energy & Sustainability Expo features a renewable energy and sustainability demonstration area that includes solar power, wind power, hydrogen storage fuel cells, and cars that run on alternative fuels. Numerous exhibitors from the business and non-profit communities will be on hand. We'll have some great food provided by local vendors and a Children's program. This year's silent auction will be better than ever. Local musicians will entertain attendees as they take a break to enjoy the beautiful setting. Campers can set up on part of the sixty acre site with showers available.

The setting for the 2009 expo is the Frontier Natural Products Co-op campus. Frontier is a leading manufacturer of natural and organic products. This beautiful and quintessentially Iowan setting is located just outside of Norway Iowa, about 30 miles from Iowa City and 15 from Cedar Rapids.

The I-Renew Energy and Sustainability Expo relies on volunteers to help organize and run the Expo. You can sign up to help on the website or give us a call! We are currently accepting sponsorship and exhibitor registrations and presenter applications. Visit the Expo website often for ongoing updates.
