Tallgrass Prairie Tours

Walk through the UNI Tallgrass Prairie adjacent to the Expo site and learn about the grasses and flowers from the staff of the Tallgrass Prairie Center.
UNI Sustainable Campus Tour

A tour showcasing how native plants are used to treat storm water runoff from parking lots, various demonstrations of how "bioretention" is used to infiltrate runoff back into groundwater, rather than sending it directly to Dry Run Creek, a local impaired water body. The tour will also showcase two pervious concrete parking lots on campus, some bank stabilization work, and the recently installed green roof on the McLeod Center.

Motor Home of the Future Tour

Tour a solar- and wind-powered motor home that features a 700-amp-hour battery bank, insulating curtains, LED lighting, solar water heater, and many energy efficient appliance. After touring this Mobile Renewable Energy Classroom, you will ready to start a solar project of your own.
