Solar Cooking Contest

Two ways to participate, either as a contestant or judge. Start your cooker in time for judging. Surprising prizes for the winners! Also learn about water pasteurization. To register for the cook-off, applicants must provide their recipe and set up their solar ovens themselves. Set-up Saturday morning in CEEE 12; judging starts at 3:10 pm by the solar ovens near the solar panels outside CEEE.

This workshop will give a basic description and analysis of domestic hot water (DHW) and space heating with solar panels. Energy savings can be 50% to 65%. Tom Snyder, Alternate Energy Systems, has been designing and installing Solar Thermal and PV since 1972. He is co-founder of IRENEW and the only nationally certifide solar thermal installer in Iowa.
