We are making renewable energy a reality in Iowa.
Founded in 1992, The Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew) is a membership-based, educational nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Iowans about the sustainable, appropriate use of renewable energy technologies. We believe that the public needs and deserves access to high quality, factually correct, unbiased, current information on renewable energy technologies, and strive to make it readily available to everyone interested.
I-Renew is a teaching organization, and sponsors comprehensive renewable energy training workshops for novices on an introductory level, and career track courses for contractors and professionals looking to upgrade their skills and certifications. We currently offer MREA Certified Site Assessor training courses in Solar Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal and Small Wind technologies. We plan to expand offerings to include installation workshops in all three areas to train installers seeking NABCEP certification in 2011.
In addition to educational activities, we partner with other non-profit groups in the state to support new policies encouraging renewable energy development. We also work with policy makers, government agencies, and individuals to implement renewable energy programs. Our members are playing a major role in making Iowa a national leader in renewable energy. I-Renew depends on member support for its educational programs. Members receive discounts to I-Renew workshops and events, a subscription to Energy Matters, our monthly newsletter featuring the latest news in renewable energy and energy, and the satisfaction of directly, positively and proactively promoting the appropriate use of renewable energy technology in Iowa.
